Chertsey Good Neighbours is run by Christine Leach and a team of volunteers to provide practical help on a short-term basis such as helping with transport to hospital or to doctors' appointments. They also collect prescriptions, library books, pensions or help with shopping. Chertsey Good Neighbours also offers a befriending service when required.
Like many voluntary organisations demand for their services exceeds the number of volunteers available to provide them. In the past 3 years they have participated in Chertsey’s Black Cherry Fair (always held on 2nd Saturday in July) by entering into the procession of floats around the town and also having a stall on the field. This has enabled them to promote thier services to the local community.
As previously mentioned Chertsey Good Neighbours Schemes always need more volunteers. If you are interested in helping within the organisations, they would like to hear from you on 01932 565146. Their Helpline is usually manned between 9.00am and 12.00 noon Monday to Friday; they are closed on Bank Holidays.
Chertsey Good Neighbours took part in the parade at the Black Cherry Fair. Below we can see Christine along with some exotically dressed helpers in the parade car.
